C-24 // A virtual Christmas Card

Hi all. It's been a lean month for posts this month as I've been away with my family, and busy tying up a multitude of loose ends (still a few to go.)

A few weeks ago I did another linocut print. Inspired by a comment (thanks Geoff) I had a go at making a more intentionally Christmassy one. It was also an opportunity to try a couple of other techniques - a reduction print (yellow printed first, then more of the block removed and overprinted with green) and also using a second block (red). It was quite challenging to get all the colours to line up. This one is not perfect, but is one of the better ones... Ah well. Practice makes perfect huh? I was going to print a whole heap and send them out as Christmas cards but I've run out of time, so this cyber version will have to do...

Merry Christmas!

Have a wonderful Christmas day, a relaxing New Year and all the best for 2010.

By the way - if you're looking for something to do on New Year's Eve, That 80's Band will be rockin' the Square in Palmerston North. We did it two years ago and it was insane. :-) Hard to believe I know, but Palmy is a funny town. Full of surprises.

Hey, if you see this before you head up to P North (and if you get to see any of the other acts at your NY show), watch out for my brother-in-law Chris, he's one of the Funky Monkeys. He's got afro hair, so you can't miss him ;) Hope it goes awesomely!

Hehe, PS: Chris sent me the promotional poster for your gig, and I saw a pic of "that 80s band". You. Look. Hilarious.

:)

Thanks Geoff! I hope your Christmas with family was great too! See you tomorrow!

Hi Huggies! Thanks for the good wishes. I'll keep my eyes open for Chris and introduce myself if I see him. That's not me in the poster by the way. It's my twin brother Ronnie. Careful. He's pretty tough. If I told him you said he looked hilarious he might come round with his mates and rearrange your living room for you...

Really? That's awesome, I'm sure we could do with a new look in here. Tell Ronnie he's most welcome to come and redecorate at any time convenient. I'll offer him tea and cake. Unless you think he'd prefer shortbread?

Toodooloo!

Missing the posts Evan - you been busy?

Hi Sarah! You're the second person in as many days to remind me that I've been neglecting my blog. :-)

Yep - it has been a very busy month... some creative busyness, a great deal of family socialising (Jo's brother was out from the UK for 3 weeks with wife and kids) and some serious, ongoing catching up with a couple of tax returns which are (ahem) slightly overdue.

I'm hoping that normality will resume next week, once the boys go back to school. In the meantime, today I'm off to my Great Great Aunty Inez's 105th birthday in Levin. Her secret to long life? "Hard work!"
